Would this be moral?

    Hi,
I'm burnt out and have a mental disability. I need to take some time off and deal with both these and issues from childhood. These childhood issues are being worked on at the moment with a professional.

I think I should be able to get disability benefit and am going to talk to my doctor this week about it. I have been paying taxes every month for the last few years.

My position could be taken up by someone I know who has the experience so I think he is the only man for the job. He really wants the position and I have the opportunity to give it to him.

Would it be moral to ask him a monthly payment from his salary in return for giving him the opportunity, just for a certain time period maybe? Therefore we would both benefit from it or this a horrible thing to ask someone?

I'm a catholic and will need confirmation if I was ever to go ahead with something like this. I might also consult a priest on this as well.

    Thanks.

No. It would certainly not be the right thing to do.

"you can have the job but only if you pay me a part of your wage"

Not only would it not be moral, it may well be illegal... see "extortion" above.

Are you even in a position to offer this job to your friend? Do you have a boss, who might like to interview other candidates? Or who may decide, not to replace you immediately?

People who go on sick leave, must make do with illness / disability benefit (whatever it's called these days). People who go on such leave CANNOT ask their replacement to make up the difference for them.

Where/how did you get such an idea?

Unacceptable, slightly fantastical and totally illegal OP.

OMG you are so scabby!!! If a ''friend'' ever said to me ''you can have my job cause im leaving, but you need to give me some of your wage since i got you the job'' I'd tell them to stuff it.
seriously, and coming from a catholic? JAYSUS.
