    Hi all,

Looking for some advice please. I am currently work as an office manager. I posted up here a few months ago about my manager taking photos of my breasts. I work in a 90% male business in a job I hate. It's literally just a job! I'm in a lucky position that I have been offered a role in a new company. I applied for it thinking I wouldn't even get a call back however I passed 4 interviews. Obviously I'm delighted with this, there is potentional to move up the ladder in the new company, working with a team and working in a gorgeous building. They will support me if I go to college and also sub this which is a major plus for me.

I stupidly dropped out of college when I was younger it's only as you get older you realise the importance of it. I have wanted to go back and get a degree but didn't know what to do and then I'd still probably not be able to use it. Whereas I can get a business degree and incorporate it into the new role and get up the ladder. I have the drive an motivation whereas where I currently work I will never be able to move any higher or increase my salary no matter how hard I work.

The downside is I will have to take a pay cut of €6000 per annum. I'm looking for peoples advice please on what you would do? Stay where I am with creeps but on a higher salary or change career take a pay cut and a risk?? I don't have a mortgage or kids. Thanks in advance

Well my take on it would be if you can afford to take the pay cut now then there isnt any real reason why you shouldnt take the new job if you want to.

Ultimately the decision rests with you of course and taking a new job nowadays does have certain risks but you seem eager and interested in the offer.Take the hit now for the greater good.

about 6 years ago, i took a 10k paycut because i hated my job and it was the best decision ever.

i struggled for a while financially until i got my budget rearranged

    i would do it

no kids, no mortgage, opportunity for funded education while holding onto your job, do you really think 6 k a year is worth NOT leaving your current job? Sounds like its dead end where you currently work and you're working with pigs. I honestly don't know why you're even questioning the move.

I'm not dismissing 6k a year, thats 500 a month, roughly over 100 a week, that is a heavy sum but I couldn't work somewhere dead end with no prospects especially when i'm being treated like a piece of meat. just my 2 cents

Think of the 6000 as a fools bonus for staying in your current job OP

If you can pay your bill and be happier in work then go for it, the only reason I would stay is if it meant having no money for food and a roof over my head. The + far out weigh the - if you take money out of this.

Hi guys, after writing how I felt yesterday I knew after reading it again what the best thing to do is. I have handed in my notice. As another poster said I am working with pigs and it's not worth it. Yes I will be down over 100 a week but I managed to live on 196 a week for 7months and paid my rent out of that while I had no work.

The + well stand out compared to the negatives. I handed in my notice this morning. I appreciate your comments. Thanks guys :)

Is that 6K pa net or gross salary?

If it's gross salary and you pay tax at the top rate it is only worth approximately 50% of the 6k mentioned in cash in your pocket terms, after tax and USC etc are taken into account.

In other words if you were earning 50K pa, after tax that would leave you with (very approximately) 34K cash.

New position, pays 44K pa, after tax that would leave you with approx. 31K cash.
