    Claim for One-Parent Family Tax Credit
    Is that true that lone parents can apply for tax credit?
    I mean I have one parent payment for 3years now but didnt work in this time as im studying, so can I get tax credit ?
    Im confuse couz heard talking girls about this, that they applying every year:eek:

    There is extra tax credits if you are working and a single parent , dont think you can get it if you on BTEA or single parents as its a tax credit ,

    Lone parents can apply for an additional tax credit which is €1,650 this year (effectively giving the same tax credits as a married couple). So if you were working as an employee you would have 3 X €1,650 credits (Single person, Lone parent and PAYE credit) meaning you would be able to earn up to €24,750 before being liable to income tax.

    However if you do not have any taxable income it makes no difference to you as the tax credit is available to set against taxable income only and is not an additional amount for which a tax refund can be claimed.
