Hi, I'm just finished college and signing on this week and have a question. I know I will have to bring a bank statement so does the amount of money you have in your account effect your chances of getting job seekers allowance? I have a 5 grand in my account but it's money that I owe so no help to me!

If you are signing on for Jobseekers Allowance you can have up to 20,000 in savings, investments, property before it will affect your payment.

If its money you owe its better off in a credit union.
