Dropbox upgrade asks for password!

(Copied from another forum, for info.)
Dropbox is currently forcing an upgrade without warning!

I noticed that Dropbox was displaying the "disconnected" icon in my menu bar so I "hovered" the cursor to find out why. Previously it was displaying version 1.1.10. Now it was displaying "upgrading database". A few minutes later it was displaying 1.1.35 and, shortly after that, a pop-up window appeared, asking for my Admin username and password.

Obviously, alarm bells rang in my head and I used Google to ascertain what was happening.

Apparently others are experiencing the same and it does appear to be a legitimate upgrade which they are forcing on everyone without prior warning.

I'm glad that I was here and noticed the activity because I would have sh;t myself had the pop-up appeared without my expecting it!

My account doesn't have Admin privileges, by the way.

What advice do you need? I just allowed the upgrade and it seems OK.
I was merely passing on the warning so that people don't poop their pants at the sight of this unexpected pop-up.

Ok. I misunderstood. I thought this wasn't an official dropbox upgrade.

Im on version 0.7.110 - odd. But it upgraded there to the latest version, how come I didn't get other updates? Were they all set to manual downloads?

It has to resync all my files, I am glad I dont have the extra storage because I would get screwed by UPC or eircom for reuploading 100 gigs for example again.

I dont see a "auto update" option, am I missing something?

I know that, but it specifically said it was uploading after the update was done - maybe it was just the wording and it was really just syncing that would make more sense as thats how it always does it.

I looked into that before because I was going to be syncing to my phone, possibly over 3g so I had to make sure it wasnt wasting anything.
