Saorview / Freeview Signal Distribution in house

I have four tvs but only one of these is MG4/5 compatible and this one currently receives ok UK Freeview and excellent Saorview (in Co. Louth). I dont want to have to replace the tvs as they are large flatscreens and relatively new. Is there a cheap way to get the digital signal around the house by putting just one saorview box in the attic connected to the distributor box (sorry dont know the technical term!) which would then feed the signal to all tvs?

Or does each tv need its own saorview box / built-in tuner? I am presuming it is the latter from what I have read on here, but dont understand why this is... can anyone explain?

The other 3 tvs will receive neither freeview NOR saorview I takes it....them being analogue only.

Soarview is DTT and your 3 tv's are analogue. They will work fine until dec 2012. then the analogue tuner will no longer be in use.

So to get saorview on each one you will need a DTT tuner and that is what the saorvew box is, a tuner that ouputs the dtt signal in pal for your 3 tv's.

You can get an RF modulator and attach that to a saorview box and convert the scart signal to an rf signal, then using coax cable route that round to your 3 tv's but you can only watch the one saorview channel at any time on all 3 tv's. The rf channel is selectable from 21-69 and basically you tune the 3 tv's into that, a bit like when you tune in analogue. Box is about 80 euro and RF modulator about 50. Why not wait a bit and see what transpires ie set top boxes get cheaper so say 30 each = 90 euro, cheaper than 80 plus 50.

    Make & model of tvs/monitors/whatever?

Is the one receiving Saorview & Freeview the only one with a decent aerial connection, ie does the aerial go straight to the 'distributor box' or via (for example) a Skybox RF2?

You will need a certified box for each TV. You will get a much better result by doing that, as the TVs will be independant of each other. If you go down the modulator route you are buying into redundant, short term technology which is a backward step and a waste of funds. The reccomended boxes will pick up Freeview as well as Saorview, but not FreeviewHD.

Thanks for that info. I will wait and see how cheaper the SV boxes will become - should have best part of a year with the old analogue anyway.
