Off Sick, Onto the Dole

    Morning everyone,

So I'm currently employed by the HSE as a careworker but have been out on the sick the last year. I am coming to the point where I will be able to go back to work soon (luckily). Unforuntaly when I do go back to work for the HSE all that is there is 7-9 hours a week. I know with those hours I could get partial dole also, but I'm trying to get out of working for the HSE and want to start looking into jobs in the private sector, hoping to get full time work.

My main concern is, when I get off the sick, drop the HSE, will I be able to go straight to the dole. At the moment money isn't great, so I can't really afford to be off 190 for a week, let alone more. And as I have not claimed the dole before I will need to open a new claim which could take sometime.

Can I apply for the dole while on the sick if I let them know dates? Or is there anyway to speed up the switch?

Any help would be much appreciated,
    Cheers,
    Banksey.
