    Hi Lads and lassies,

hadnt seen this part of the forum until I went looking for info on the net :eek:

    anyways,
I ahve a question I hope someone will be able to help me out with

I am looking to transform my dads 80cm dish, currently on 13E, to a multi LNB setup.
I am hoping to get 13E, 19E and 28E from the dish.
He is based in Bettystown and my big question is......

where should the prime focus of the dish be ??

should I have it pointed directly at 19E and the just slide the 2 other LNB's outward,
or should I have it pointed at a different sat ?

    many thanks

    Cheers

    MrTrebus

Yes, point at 19E, have exact same setup myself. The Eurobird channels at 28.5E are trickiest to get, there are a few channels there worth getting, so concentrate on getting them as best you can; you may find that the skew will require the finest of tuning to get it as good as possible. The rest of the channels on 28.2E are still booming in that far from the prime focus, as is 13E on the other side.

19e and then find your offsets :)
Remember 28.2 will be higher and to the left(as you look at the dish from the front) and 13e will be lower and to the right, both are easily found from 19e though ;)
Best of luck with the set up!
Here's a pic of my own set up on a TD88 with Prime at 16e

Ah the sweet sweet smell of a job well done !!

    Pics attached !!

Many thanks to all who posted advice ,would not have got it done without seeing what's was actually going on in their pics !!

One thing I noticed though on the new setup ,there's no way I would have got another lnb in place for 16e !!

Anyways, gonna tackle my motorized dish next
Will be the same I think, center the dish on 19e and get 13 and 28 as well.
Don't think I'll be able to get 23.5 or 16e unless I should be centering it on something else it

    Anyways,thank again

    Pics now uploaded !!

I should mention that these are mounted on an 80cm dish and the reception is fantastic on every sat, havent seen ANY station giving problems !

It is possible (See the pics in my post above)but it needs 16e to be prime as its a weak bird, might not even be attainable on an 80cm dish.
It does need slimline LNBs but with those and a little bit of modding its very doable.
Heck, I managed it like :P

If you are missing Satellites on a motorised set up you are either off arc on the tracking(i.e installed incorrectly/Not fully plumb) Or the dish is too small to receive the signal.
On a motorised setup the sats you mention are easily attainable, indeed I get them all on a fixed dish multiLNB setup.
There is an excellent guide to motorised setup here http://www.techtir.ie/howto/install-motorised-dish easiest way to get up and running is via USALS if your box can manage it ;)

    @banie01

my own dish is a 1 meter dish that is currently on a motor.
no issues with getting any sats at the moment, the only reason for changing it is that the motor is situated outside the kids bedroom window, and at night is just too noisy !!

I was hoping for 28e,23.5e,19e,16e and 13e from the dish when its fixed in place.
I just dont think that bar has enough room on it for the 3 mid sats (see again my pics...NO gap at all between 19 and 13 and precious little room for another LNB between 28 and 19  )

will post up pics of that when I finally get around to it.
In fact im gonna take the dish down and do all the work on it on a ground mounted pole, then shove it back up again !

On the fixed dish it is possible to get 13',16' and 19 but you need to use slimline LNBs for at least 2 of the Sats, I use an Inverto Multiconnect at 16' and ALPS at 19'.

It won't be possible with your current LNBs,(You could use 1 at 13' or 19' but you still need 2 Slimline)
    Take a look here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=71146786&postcount=23
But a possible config for your needs would be 3 Slimline alps at 13e,16e,19e with 2 of your current LNBs at 23.5 and 28.2 and maybe the other at 9e or even swapped for a 9e Ka band LNB for Saorsat when it launches
Its all about Planning the LNB locations on the bar ;)
Look up 3degree spacing and take a look here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056197308 I got some great advice from Watty,Pelisor and Excollier on that thread ;)

I'll be honest for the spread you are looking at and considering you already have a 1mtr dish!
I would ditch the motor and go Multi LNB/Diseqc switching.
I have 9e,13e.16e,19e,23.5e,28.2e all on 1 dish with Full PVR watch record on 13e, 19e and 28.2e so I can watch one satellite whilst recording another!
An impossibility on motorised along with near instant satellite switching too! :D
Even multiroom on 28.2 can be accomodated with a quad and all from one dish.
The flexibility offered by a multisat setup trounces motorised especially as you are looking at recieving a very narrow range of Sats(within a 15deg spread).
