Anyone tell me where is a good but not expensive place to go for a holiday alone? I'm female (obv :p) and want to head off during the summer for a few days or longer, haven't travelled anywhere alone before and find it a bit daunting but want to do it! Anywhere considered! Thanks

Morocco is great and safe for a female traveler, you said a few days so I reckon just look at destinations in North Africa or Europe, traveling alone is a lot of fun and you will be fine.

    Hey Mary,

Northern African countries can be pretty scary for a lone family travelling, so beware where you going.

Looking for a great place to meet people but also get the best of the beach, drinks, and party life (if you want) then Greece and any of her islands would be very suitable.

I saw some cool places right here: http://www.iwannagothere.com

Hope this helps and you have a great vacation !!!

    Yeah, I second that.
I've heard of girls travelling alone that enjoyed Morocco, but in general the opinion is that it's not a place for a solo girl to travel.

Greece, or indeed anywhere in Europe could be a good choice though - especially if you're worried about travelling alone.

Hi Mary, I'm in my early 30's and tend to travel alone as all my friends are married, in relationships etc. I really enjoy city breaks, I was in Lisbon earlier this year and Berlin last month, both were absolutely beautiful cities and very safe.

    Hi ,
I'm looking for a sun holiday for a week, but I would like to travel as part of a singles/friends group (not a "find me a man" group). Do you know of any websites or tour operators please?

    Ghent in Belgium.. Lovely spot.

Ghent's great, but for an afternoon. there was a lego festival there when I went! actually going back to belgium on Friday!

croatia is a great spot to go on your own, safe, cheap and really really fun! ended up being abandoned mid holiday on my own there and was amazing. met some great people. Dubrovnik is amazing (such a beautiful city), maybe a bit quite to meet people in, Spilt/Hvar are brilliant for meeting people and having fun!

I've yet to see enough other places in Europe to make a comparison... Will do all of Europe when I'm older.
But you're prob right about "for an evening". I was over visiting my brother who lived there so it was a bit different for me.

    How about the Edinburgh festival?

the fringe rules! lived in edinburgh city centre last year, had the e4 tent outside my front window!

be warned though, accommodation is friggin expensive and impossible to find. but totally worth it, the city has such a buzz about it. scotland in general is great, glasgow and edinburgh are brilliant cities. there's plenty of bus tours of north too (definitely worth a visit) where lots of people go on their own, easy to meet people on these.

how bout Iceland, its completely different place to go and i think they now have direct flights from dublin with iceland express. I had a fantastic time there and only saw Reykjavik. felt completely safe all the time aswell.

I travel solo all the time (mid-20's female). I use websites like Couchsurfing to find people when I feel like it, but often meet people along the way and follow them around. Solo travel is great because of the freedom it gives you.
