    Hi all,

    This evening about 6 we saw a big, what looked like a commercial jet very low over us here in Churchtown, I thought it was low but then I saw the undercarriage come out. It definitely wasn't going into Dublin airport but I didn't think Baldonnel could take anything this large. It looked bigger than a 737, I think it was an Airbus (probably A320) judging by the engine cowling shape ( but I'm no expert ).

    Any ideas or is this not rare ?

    Thanks

    It's an Air Italy 757. I'm curious too

    Someone mentioned something about a 757 being spotted on approach to Baldonnel on Airliners.net this evening. Could be what you saw. No idea what it is or why it's there though.

    I Didn'y think a 757 could take off from there.

    Putting 2 & 2 together and getting 5,the only thing that comes to mind is it could be connected to the Italian Ambassador. His residence is in Lucan village. It's the only thing i can think of.

    Think this a/c would have had to contact Dublin ATC ?

    There is an archive of Dublin ATC transmissions here;

    http://www.liveatc.net/listen.php

    any idea of a more specific time of sighting?

    As good a guess as any.

    I'll drop Steyr a PM, he usually has the S.P. on these things.

    spot on judging by the colours - I was directly underneath and all I could see were the tail stripes.

    I notice that the number on one I saw on you tube was EI-xxx, could it be they are leased from Ireland and it was being repatriated for some reason ( repossessed )

    It's at the end of the runway saw it from Naas road this evening. I would still be going with troop charter from West Africa. I saw on flickr that an OMNI 757 has landed before along with a transavia 738 all troops returning home.

    Same as myself, only saw the tail stripes, quite upset I was outside with no camera. Was about 2-3000 ft directly over my head.

    I saw this plane, I live in Kingswood and I just heard a roar looked to my left and nearly fell over in shock thought the plane was going to hit off the roof our houses, ran to the front of my house and saw the italia plane come right down into Baldonnell, it was terrifying yet amazing...wouldnt like to have that every day though...first time to see such a big plane fly over.
