Sex and Fidelity -- an article in today's Sunday Indo

There's a strange article in today's Sunday Independent, one of those that you're not sure how it managed to get passed the Editor (yes, it's the Sunday Indo, ha ha ha -- insert obvious joke here).

John McEntee, "Men are simply not designed to be completely faithful to one lover for life".

I'm not a prude. There is room for debate on whether or not men -- or indeed women -- can or should be monogamous. That discussion is up to each couple, but this article is pathetic.

McEntee spends most of his column space boasting about his sexual conquests like a teenage boy in heat. He calls one woman who slept with him "an old slapper". He thinks that "many women feel complete by giving birth" but men always need to "get their leg over" (for some pseudo-philosophical reasons).

Do men with outdated and misogynistic views really exist so blatantly? How do they get column space? I picked up this paper on a whim; I won't do it again.

A journalist is a bit of an eejit and writes stupid, tasteless things. It's not that strange, is it?

So effing tired of double standards.
It's ok for a single man to sleep around but not a single woman.
If a married man cheats he's a pig, if a married woman cheats it's because her needs weren't being met.

Etc. You could go on all day with this crap. My view is that sexuality is entirely between the people involved and the rest of us should mind our own f*cking business. I'm so sick of reading articles attacking people for their sexual behaviour. It's a private matter.

For the record, I wasn't talking about cheating. I was talking about the patronising tone the author took towards women (I'm male, by the way).

But in saying that, the social set-up of a pride is completely different to the way people live. Comparing people to animals is never as smart as people think it is. It doesn't prove anything.

I think that if people want open relationships (that would involve discussion and agreement on both sides), whatever, that's fine. Cheating is a pretty shít thing to do, though.

Just another twat passing off their opinion as fact.

These idiots are everywhere, it's just this tit has a column.

    Move on.

^ Problem is that women cheat as well, they're just more likely not to get caught. So I can't stand articles which single out men as cheaters.

It's alleged that DNA testing as a fun part of science courses in secondary schools had to be dropped because of the number of people finding out they had different fathers.

No, I'm not condemning woman. No, I'm not condemning men. I'm saying both genders are as bad as eachother and I'm sick of double standards in the media.

I agree with what he said, but not how he said it, I personally dont believe in the 1 person for the rest of your life type thing , It doesnt matter how attractive the woman is , youll always end up wanting a go of something else. If I told you you had to choose a breakfast cereal and stick with it for the next 30-40 years youd think i was mad.

No one on this thread (excluding the author of the article) has made accusations against men or women. Calm down. You're jumping ahead.

He's sleeping with that many slappers, it'll get infected, the blood flow will be restricted.... and he'll get gangrene (spelled it wrong in the last post)!

Cheating on your wife is one thing. Writing a article on a "major" paper is a horrible thing to do and must embarrass her no end. What a a-hole

Cheating is a lousy thing to do and in a relationship I would never hurt someone like that. Still think the whole one person for the rest of your life thing is bollox though.

But what if you LUUUURRRRVVVED the cereal?
What if you thought the cereal was really really special?
What if the cereal made your life complete and you finally felt like your life was getting on track?

Although, I guess it's not like you're the only one the cereal gets eaten by, so what's good for the goose...

people really shouldnt get into relationships to start with, or make it clear that theyll go off with other people, thats the root of the problem really

believe me , curiously cinnamon would be a deal breaker, but you never know if theyll invent some new Cinnamon cereal along the way , or even just a quickie with a Cinnamon breakfast bar , everyone should just whore around with all the cereals

I think by slapper he meant older person of the female persuasion, not hooker. Even then, if he uses protection, sure wont he be grand.
