    Hi Guys,
I'd just like to introduce the new Kayaking/Canoe mod - Zuppylurk. You are al very well behaved here, but I'm going to have limited time to pop in over the next while with the arrival of the newest generaion paddler (hopefully next week!) and the admins have kindly added Zuppylurk to help out.

In terms of a bio (and I'm sure he will correct me if I get this wrong) ZL has been paddling for almost 30 years (old man!) and has pretty much tried every discipline out there on several continents. He specialised in canoe polo for several years (as player, event organiser and ref) before turning to marathon paddling. He recently completed the Devises to Westminister race and organises the east passage 10 km race. He is coach as well as being one of the more active posters here.

I hope you'll join me in welcoming him on board and hopefully he won't find himself up **** creak without a paddle. Forget a welcome fanfare, I'm sure he will prefer a nice bit of banjo music.

Many thanks for that intro. :)

As HM said, I am the new sheriff in town :-) No need to worry things seem to be very tame here anyway. I have dipped in and out of most types of paddling in one way or another and have to say if I am lacking it is in the canoe department. Even if I have been in a C2 slalom boat and have a photo to prove it. I have paddled pretty much every type of kayak, even a K4 and my newest project is an ocean racing surfski.

That bit done, on to business. Any ideas, plans or the such feel free to post or PM me if your the shy type. I plan to check over the sticky's in the next few weeks and tidy them up (or not). So voice your thoughts........

I think the only sticky that should go is the starting out one, what you need to get etc.

That particular sticky stymies conversation on the forum and although it contains useful info, we need to get the forum moving along so the more newbies to paddling that post looking for info the more traffic the forum will get and the more debates will open.

It's probably always going to be a bit quiet in here due to the popularity of Irish White Water forum and the freestyle forum but we should try create a Boards.ie paddling community if possible.

Interesting thought. I thought a one stop resource for people to point to or cut and paste from, would be the job. People seem to ask anyway. :-) Well, will ponder on it while on the river.

Was thinking of a session thread for the racers. Sort of, ideas thread for sessions.

Racers are in pitiful short supply round here unfortunately . .and then theres the fact that most of the racers all know each other anyway!!!

As for the sessions . .well you can't beat a good old 8 down to 1!!!
