    hey people

    im on the brink of buying a 2000 avensis td (not d4d) what should i look for. the car look clean if anyone knows would help alot.

    Waterpump/tbelt history? Listen out for noisey gearbox bearings, that's about it really, oh and make sure central locking is working off button on the master switch...

    As above really. Make sure it wasn't a taxi, check the boot for leaks. Make sure sunroof works. Try the starter a few times as the Bosch one is pants.

    Sweet engine those TDs, not as economical as the D4D but more reliable.

    I have one of these the GLS model - I think it came from uk originally - with A/C and CD changer etc...
    Gearbox did give some trouble way back with previous owner but apart from that no problems.
    Almost 250,000 miles on the clock and very little signs of engine wear.
    Plan to keep it for as long as it will go - hope to get to 300k miles if I can.
