CAMERA PROBLEMS-EMERGENCY

Okay, so I'm heading off to Italy tonight and I decided to buy a new camera yesterday for the trip. A simple Olympus VG 120, nothing too fancy. This morning when I tried testing it out I noticed a fault. I put a Transcend sdhc 4gb class 6 memory card into it and now the camera does NOT save each picture I take. It's as if sometimes it decides not to save a large amount of pictures I take.

Can anybody help me fix this or is the camera faulty?

    Regards,
    CiiaRawr.

Have you tried another card in the camera? Was there even a small capacity one in the box?

3 other immediate possibilities you could check before someone who knows what they're doing comes on...

    A) is the card formatted?
    B) Does the camera accept SDHC cards, in that capacity? Check manual
    it does...
    C) if the card isn't brand new, is it full?

Replacement B) Is the camera set to save to the onboard memory and not the card? (49mb)

I have tried a 2gb card that worked fine but I don't think it'll be enough for my trip. No card came with the camera whatsoever.

    The card is formatted.
And the card isn't brand new but I emptied it before putting it in the camera.

I checked all the settings and it is set to save onto sd cards such as the one I have.

if the 2gb card worked fine, that suggests it might be a problem with the other 4gb card and not the camera, the card may have become corrupted or something.

At least you have a 2gb card to get you started, you might have time to pick up a spare one either on the way or at the airport, or even in beautiful italy!

I've had that problem with it too! some of the pics would not be saved.

Now, just last night, when I turned it on, the lense was all out of focus, dark and blurry

When I went to turn it off, the lenses would not go back in!!

Now I've a camera that I can't turn on... and the lenses is still out!

I bought it in Argos and bought the dedicated case for it separately. It was NEVER dropped or handled roughly.

    I'm disgusted :mad::mad::mad:

I only have the camera since last feb! (2011)

Still under warranty, go back to Argos with it.

It may be a stupid question but are the batteries/battery charged ?

If it's an SD card, make sure it's not locked.

See the top left of the card (on the left side of the card), there's a switch that can be slid up or down (it says 'lock' on writing beside it in the above photo). Make sure that's in the right position.

Ya, was thinking that. I don't have the receipt (ransacked the whole house!)

There is an argos stock control number on the box though... (I still have original box/packaging, manual etc)

Do I stand a chance of a refund? Certainly going to try!
