School is introducing Economics this year and I have been asked to suggest a book for the book list. I have no real idea of the quality of the books, can anyone give me some pointers , thanks.

    Hi

Understanding Economics by Richard Delaney is the only economics book i've used - it's good but sometimes I feel I'm more of a translator than a teacher!!

Can I ask what region the school is in? Economics is one of my subjects and I can't find a job anywhere - all i've been doing this year is Maths and I've nothing lined up for Sept. Most schools seem to be dropping economics which is just madness - i think it should be a core subject - but god forbid we should educate the youth on government finances etc - imagine if anyone started questioning the government!?!?!

    Anyway, I was just curious.

    Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I had a choice of 3 books and went with that one, just because I had to pick one. Not really an ideal way to suggest a book.
I am in Dublin Region. The school had only offered Business for the leaving cert but there have been previous requests to offer other business subjects. I am looking forward to teaching the subject next year, assuming of course I am kept on. Thanks again.

All the books available are poor, also it is a total disaster to teach. Have a look at the syllabus and you will laugh, you couldn't call it comprehensive!
