The other Serbia sadly can be seen marching in support of a wretched warlord, I suspect that will be as noted as much as the authorities managing to magic him up.

Seems that theSerb authorities are really pushing for membership of European Union and are willing to sacrifice their "war heroes" to achieve this.
It won't work, and they know it, but the government needs to do it because the country needs to pretend like it'll be an EU member someday soon.
Would you suppose that allowing Mladic arrest would also help Serbia's case with regards to the Kosovo issue?
No. The ICJ's ruling put an end to that.

Who? A handful of people turned out in Belgrade and Novi Sad the other day to protest his arrest. Most, if not all Serbians, would be happy that he is being brought to court. They wouldn't, for good reasons, be so supportive of the ICTY or its mandate, any more then many Croatians and Bosnians would.

3,000 far right nationalists do not represent Serbia showing support for their fallen warlord.

The government has been under huge pressure to call an election for weeks and if all the extreme nationalists can muster up in the face of growing discontentment with the government is 3,000 people it ain't that impressive a show of force, much less representative of the entire nation.

And anyway, people protest in Belgrade all the time. It's like a national past-time there.

Ruling or not, I don't think the Kosovo question will be resolved for quite a long time.

I think the capture of Mladic strengthens the image of a Serbia that is "on the level" (I suppose it can be put that way, but then again perhaps not). It shows that Serbia is willing to follow international lines and advance its integration into Europe, above territorial issues.

In terms of the Kosovo question, I reckon the arrest of Mladic (as a symbol of the continuing atonement and peaceful nature of modern Serbia) will show that the country is willing to use words and politics to solve issues, instead of arms.

It shows a precedent for peace.

Certainly good news, to see the man arrested.

As for Serbia in the EU, I think this is a good step for them, and the small number of the far right, who were out on the streets, hopefully signals, that people have moved on from past hatreds in Serbia.

    I won't get philosophical here.
So, it seems you know everything about the war. I just have one question.

What is this? Fake, to, huh?
"Since the beginning of the siege it is estimated that nearly 10,000 persons have been killed or are missing in the city. This total includes over 1,500 children. An additional 56,000 persons have been wounded, including nearly 15,000 children. It has been estimated that over the course of the siege the city has hit been hit by an average of approximately 329 shell impacts per day, with a high of 3,777 shell impacts on 22 July 1993."

Recently it seems Ratko Mladic has been arrested and detained by the Serbian security forces, quite unimaginable a few years previously that one of the architects of the Srebrenica massacre and of various atrocities committed during the Bosnian war could in fact be brought to justice over his alleged crimes.

There remains a lot to be discovered about the 'hiding' and 'capture' of Mladić but it's already becoming apparent, from informed sources, that his discovery was solely due to his decision to give himself up in return for a financial payment to his wife and son. Certainly, financially, they both would have affected after the freezing of Mladić's pension in 2005.

The deal offered by Mladić would have returned far less than the $10m reward previously offered, but does give credence to the well reported commentaries about Mladić's health over the last 10 years.
