Hey just looking for some help :)
Have an iphone 3gs and was on an 18month contract with O2 up until last month when it ran out. Yesterday i got one of them free iphone 4's in the 3 shop for signing up with them. It's a 2 year contract. They asked me a few details about my old contract with O2 and said they would sort out the switch for me. SO i get home with the new phone and insert the 3 mini chip sim with new 083 phone number. I sync'd up the phone and got all my media from old phone, i then texted everyone to let them know of my number change to 083. Got a few replies to the 083 number....then this morning i jailbreak the phone with no problems.... then about an hour ago i text a friend and they ask me why im texting from my old 086 number? I checked it out and i am back on my old number.....

Did i do that by doing the jailbreak or is it normal when you switch to the 3 network? I never asked to keep my old number when i was signing up the contract! Will it change back if i sync the phone or remove the jailbreak? Just wondering what has happened before i go up to the shop and make an ass out of myself haha
    Thanks

They've ported the number you had been using on O2 to Three. They would have processed this in the three store, nothing to do with the jailbreak. The 083 number on your SIM card was only a temporary number which is now dead as it has been replaced by your O2 one.
Time to text everyone again to tell them to use your existing O2 number!

Hey, no problems with network! Customer service have even been good to deal with! Only downside to having the iPhone 4 and being on the 3 network is that nobody I know has the iPhone 4 or is on the 3 network ha! If they had not of given it to me for free I would not of bothered pay any cash for it! I don't find much difference with the 3GS and the 4 other then the awesome screen and camera! But I wouldn't upgrade if you have to pay for it! :)

Get a prepay SIM card and try the network out before you go commiting to anything. There are issues with coverage in certain areas.

The M50 end (Bancroft, Glenview) and up around the Square is usually good for 3G, can be a bit slow for data in the evenings though but still usable.

If you make a payment of €60 to your account they will enable it for you. Just give customer care a buzz on 1913.

just give them a call and they will enable roaming for you, normally you dont have to pay anything for this, they enabled mine and didnt ask for €60
