OCD or not?

i dont know where to put this as i couldnt find a place for it.
    anyway
i believe i have an OCD well 2 of them

    1. The feel of something , i dont mean anything like if i dont touch something right or it doesnt feel like i touched it right then i end up constantly touching it
example the corner of my desk, for some reason i keep tipping the corner of my desk its annoying but i cant stop sometimes until i feel i touched it right
very strange i know, but i had it before and got passed it and its back again :S very annoying but i dont touch it for hours on end over for about 20 seconds until i end up touching it again by accident then happens all over again
    2. my left eye, for some reason i have to get 1 of my fingers, my index one and press it just above my eyebrow and push down because my left eye feels more exposed to air then my right one
its very frustrating cause it happens 24/7 except when im sleep
when i dont do this i try to prevent my self from doing it and i wink with my left eye
but if im out and i wink to prevent this i might be talking to a girl/friend of mine and she might get the wrong impression thinking im actually winking at her

its very annoying but it just feels like my left eye is exposed to more air then my right one and it makes me do this

the 1st one im sure il get past but the 2nd one is really annoying me and i hate doing it as it affects me , not seriously but provokes me so much

does anyone have any idea how i got this or how to completely stop doing this?
its not a serious OCD case thing so i dont have to go to the doctor or anything
maybe im just being silly , im not sure even if its an OCD prob just a constant twitch
    i dunno
    thanks for replys

    Hello unknowntoown,

Sadly medical advise is asked by the owners of the site Boards.ie, not to be given out (with good reason).
We can only suggest you go to a doctor for real accurate advice.
    Hope all goes ok.

Yeah you are very special and unique just make sure to frequently repeat this phrase

"OMG I am so, like OCD about this"

Keep that shit in your head unless it becomes a problem imo.

    sorry about that
but in truth im not asking for medical advice
or asking anyone to tell me to take eye drops or anything

im just asking if theres anyone who has it or if theres a specific way of dealing with it with out medical advice or treatment.
basicly just tell me your opinion on the matter if its worth going the doctor over or try handle it myself as it doesnt seem big enough to me to go to the doctor with

My mother had the same thing - she went to the doctor and it turned out to be terminal cancer.

Now in fairness I think that in an obvious case like this it is OK.

OP, you've got the cancer I'm afraid.

Hopefully someone that might suffer from the real thing might privately PM you.
Other than that, in all honesty I don't think you will get much solice in any open opinions here in After Hours.
I wouldn't dare offer an opinion on something as serious as that - especially when I, myself, know little about it. :)

The insurance company will though. Don't give them ANY extra negative info. Seriously, OCD thoughts are more common than you think. Does not mean anything is actually "wrong" unless you can't leave the house or something.

OCD can be a very troublesome disorder that interfers with people's lives. If these specific compulsions do not cause you any major distress OP, I wouldn't bother getting worked up about it.

If however you have experienced extreme cleanliness, and hygiene fears etc. or some other anxieties that have made(or still make life) difficult then speaking to a doctor about these issues would be important as this is often a big indicator of OCD.

It really depends on how much anxiety your compulsions cause you :)

but its not life changing in anyway just annoying
mainly happens if i watch tele or if im on the pc like right now its doing it and im straining myself from doing anything with my eye apart from blinking

I actually had more or less the same problem as you have with touching things right, I rarely do it now though thank feck. I do have a bit of an OCD thing going with keeping my hands and face clean but sure it could be worse. Dont worry about it op, much worse things

Everyone has a touch of OCD I think, checking the oven over and over, chewing biros, picking at their nails, biting their nails, bedsheets have to be tucked in, can't eat fry if the beans have touched their sausages etc etc. My own one is rubbing the bottom of my teeth off my top, can't stop :P Or whenever I'm close to a height, think about jumping off etc. Just touch the table or don't touch it, either way, don't beat yourself up about it and get some help if you think you need it, can't hurt. Occupy yourself with as many things that interest you as possible. Life is short, you can only do your best and if it is OCD, many people live perfectly normal lives with it, so wouldn't be the end of the world anyway. Best of luck with everything :)

OCD is a obsessive compulsive disorder
i.e your obsessed with doing something
i.e you cant help it but your anxiety takes over and you proceed with what ever OCD you have
as ive mentioned i have an obsession with my eye and touching the corners of things if they dont feel right over and over
clearly you dont know what OCD is

If I can make a suggestion Op it is to run, run as far away from AH as you can.
This is probably not the place for your discussion, however valid it may be.

I sincerely hope you find solace and/or relief but you are very unlikely to get that here on a sunday morning when most are a few sheets to the wind after a night out and a belly full of curry.

    Good luck

Seriously though, OCD thoughts are very common. I have "obsessive" thoughts sometimes when working. I am a clean freak if that helps. OCD isn't normally a problem, just means you are a pedantic ****er. They will wane over time. Helps when fixing various problems OP. You aren't crazy, just very VERY picky. *Edit - perfectionist might be a better word*

    Words of wisdom.

Btw someone told me once that that edge of the cliff thing is not so much an 'oh **** what if I throw myself off' thing rather than 'I need to get down' thing.

The eyes see a steep drop and being solution oriented we automatically think 'I need to get down to safety'

or something like that - been drinkin

OCD is a brain disorder OP. If you have an unusual habit that does not cause much stress then you more than likely don't have OCD.

People with OCD have behavioural patterns that do cause major stress in their lives. Google it and look at some of the indicators. One common example of OCD is being neurotic and terrified of germs etc. to the point that it interferes with your life.

If you really had OCD you would've found the right place for it, and posted it four times. 1-2-3-4, four times, 1-2-3-4, four times, 1-2-3-4, four times, 1-2-3-4.

If you're really worried, see your GP.

haha it annoys me so much when people say they have OCD but really don't. OP, count yourself lucky you don't have it. If you had it, you would find it hard to go about your daily business and ultimately to live, without carrying out numerous compulsions.

everyone has an OC, cop on to life if you knew anything about it youd know everyone has it
just not life changing or major or stress related in your life
do you bite your nails? have DVDs in a certain order? very organised? things have to be a certain way?
you do something out of a habbit? people say biting there nails is a habbit no its an OCD but a very minor form of it , its why people call it a habbit
    get your facts straight
it annoys me when people like you dont read up on these things and actually reply to a post in which you havent got a clue what your talking about
