Buying Car From NI (NI Plates Question)

Hi, I'm buying a car from a private seller in NI. I'm happy with the whole VRT process but one question. The seller has processed papers to return his car to original reg from his private plate. I presume I will have to wait for him to have reg changed back on car before presenting the car and v5 for VRT inspection (i.e. v5 and plate on car need to match and be current)?? Has anyone got any information on this? Don't know how well I've explained that!
    Regards To All,
    Paul.

I do not think so... if you have both reg's - one will be on the system and match the VIN.

You need to wait until he has a V5 with the new reg on it and has a set of plates. Can take a few days to sort out.

The clowns down here don't have access to the DVLNI database.

Thanks for the replies, yea, I'm thinking it's more straight forward to just have the plates right and the v5 in hand. Do you know how long it could take for the DVLA to turn round documentation for something like this?

Got one done in the UK a while back, it took the DVLA a week to issue a new number and V5

That wouldn't be too bad! I'm just hoping it won't take a month or more! If they're like our crowd down here, it would take that long! Thanks Man In Havana
