Do you have a personal uniform?

I can't help but notice that, particularly in the workplace, people tend to wear the same clothes for a lot of the time.

Something that has intrigued me since I was a small child, and learned not to wear my clothes for more than two consecutive days, was how many adults could wear the same clothes day in, day out without seeming to find it a little gross.

When I was in school, which was during the celtic tiger period so no claims of clothes poverty, our teachers would often wear the same outfit for weeks on end, perhaps changing the tie and shirt on a more occasional basis. No students could remember a time when one particular teacher wore anything but the same tweed sports jacket and faded brown trousers as he did from the time they entered to the time they left.

In work I see this too, but it isn't just work. We are all familiar with John Bowman's favourite hospital-beige suit, for example.

So do you do this? Do you wear the same clothes, as a sort of personal uniform, for long periods of time? And why?

No uniform as such but it must be loose fitting clothing, not tight, to allow quick free movement.
Usually casual but that changes depending on location and who I'm with at the time.

Combats + Black Tee Shirt (preferably a metal band) + Hoodie (if it's cold). Does me grand. Each day. New jocks and socks of course, I'm not a knacker. :pac:

That reminds me of a conversation with an ex.

I noticed that he'd wear the same boxers for a few days and I drew his attention to it.

Me:"You wear the same boxers for half the week? Your meant to change them everyday!"
    Him:"No body does that!!"
Me: "Yes they do! Almost everyone does."
Him:"Well Sean told me he doesn't and I trust him".

    Sean was his best mate.

yep, when someone pointed out to me when I started college that they now found it so different without a school uniform and that they found it so difficult to pick out clothes for each day I just couldnt understand and said I dont find it any different, Ive just adapted a different uniform now :P Everyone in college was the same, same clothes day in day out. Now my uniform is probably skinny jeans, tshirt, hoody.

Black chucks, fitted bootcut/slightly flared jeans, either red, white, gray, or black top (usually sports-cut tank or solid tee), black leather jacket. Sunglasses on my head in the summer. Heart-shaped necklace. Occasionally I mix it up with a blue or tye-dye top. But it's rare. If I'm in the house then it's grey hoodies and grey comfypants.

These trends aren't particularly intentional, either.. just kinda happened. :o

    I need a makeover.

I like to wear a dress most days as I don't like the way society treats men.

I have intentionally limited my wardrobe for work. For the week I have 3 pairs of trousers, 3 tops and 3 jackets.

I rotate them, but I have worn the same clothes two days in a row, but here's the clincher, I have a washing machine and dryer (as do most people), once I get into my sloppy t-shirt and trackie bottoms when I'm home they get washed and dried leaving them wearable for the next day should I choose. The miracle of technology...

Yeah, those gender enforced stereotypes are such a pain in the hóle.

If only we could all be brought up genderless....

I never understood skid marks either it only takes another few seconds to wipe properly. Well unless you've a wide set back passage then its not your fault.

I've been told that I dress quite classic and sixies but the classic part usually goes when I open my mouth :( or another one "With the mess that is your bedroom I don't know how you come out of your room looking like you do".

when my dad likes a top or pair of trousers, he'll buy out the shop's entire supply and wear them all the time. I keep telling him that people probably think he only had one set of clothes but he's not bothered. Maybe a lot of people do that?

I do this quiet a bit. Particularly with trousers, jeans and shoes as I hate shopping for them. So when I find some I like I'll buy a few at the same time. Not too bothered what anyone thinks

I thought your uniform was a big duff beer bottle?

Not the exact same clothes obviously, but work is generally a fairly plain knee-length dress of some kind or skirt and shirt, plus a cardigan.
