Tooth ache?

    Hi guys.

Back in March, I got a silver replacement filling in my top right molar tooth as the previous filling was over five years old.

Lately, now this is only happening in the last few days, it's started hurting. It hurts after I chew, when I lean on my right side or place my hand over my right cheek. Sometimes it hurts when I probe it a bit. The pain at first is usually a dull ache but after a while it starts to hurt really bad. The only way I can stop the pain is lying on my back and breathing in deeply or sitting on a chair and leaning forward (and usually that doesn't work.)

I'm not really sure what's up. I don't think it's a root canal problem but I don't know what else it could be. I have exams coming up and I'll be pressed for time so I mightn't be able to get to the dentist until the week after next.

Does anybody know what could be wrong? I'd appreciate any answers. Thanks guys.

I got a deep filling recently, from a local dentist, which was on the nerve and it hurt like hell for a week, then it passed. I went to a large chain of dentists who did an xray and showed it to me, I could see the filling on the nerve, the dentist there advised me it would probably pass, if not they could do the root canal, would have been 300 less than the local guy. It'd take 3 visits, but after visit one the pain would be gone. My advice is to go get an xray. That and Neurofen Plus or Difene.

Unfortunately it sounds like the nerve is dying and a root canal treatment or extraction will be required.
As Staplor said go back to your dentist and get it x-rayed.

    Sorry to hear that OP

Is the pain on biting specific to that tooth or all teeth in that area?? If specific to that tooth- most likely root canal or extraction needed. If all teeth and other signs and symptoms such as sore cheek, relief when changing posture etc- may point to a sinus infection or sinusitis...

Get it checked out... Good luck
