Changing Level now?

So, I made the fatal error of choosing to go ahead with Higher Level Maths when asked back in March or whenever, but now i completely regret it and know I won't get that good of a grade. Is it possible to change the level you do on the day? I know they allow you to do it for Leaving Cert. My science teacher said also that you will be able to change your level for subjects for JC on the day, but I don't know where she sourced that information from.....

Any help on the matter would be mucho appreciado (I'm a pro at Spanish) . Also, anyone else having second thoughts about what level they chose?

As far as im aware its impossible to change level on the day, because they only order the required amount of papers.

There are forms which arrived in schools earlier this week where you can still change level for JC. Ask the person in charge of your exams on Monday. It might not be any harm have a note from a parent supporting you in your decision.

It's generally possible on the day too, at least for one or two candidates, but the SEC do not put in lots of extra papers at JC levels. You might have to wait while an OL paper is photocopied, which is a stress and delay you don't need on the day - aside from working from photocopies.

You are allowed change on the day for LC, but they may not have extra papers for JC, especially if, for example, more than ten candidates decided to change level. Talk to your Examinations Secretary first thing Monday.

For JC Maths, I would advise you to stick with Higher Level. It doesn't matter whether you get a good or bad grade and you might just surprise yourself.

Are you going to completely fail it or just get a low pass?

Do you think, with a bit of effort, you could continue with HL for LC? If you think you would be able to stay with HL for LC at all, I'd advise not changing. If you sit OL maths at JC level, most schools won't let you even try HL for LC and with the new extra 25 points for HL Maths coming in, 40% in higher level will be worth more than 100% in ordinary level. (65 points vs 60 points).

    Just something to consider.

Also, you'd probably end up doing better than you think you will. :)

A good few people in my year wanted to change to pass Maths and apparently the teacher over it rang the SEC and they were adamant that they had to stick with Honours. I'm not sure how true that is, it's just what I heard from a friend. Have a talk with whatever teacher is in charge of it anyway but tbh, if I were you I'd stick with Honours. It's only the JC, after all. You can probably do most A and B parts, and if you just make an attempt at everything you've nearly passed the paper. If you actually learn your theorems there's an easy enough forty marks too!
