Some video on this channel now.

It says "RTE One +1 Starts at 7.00 PM"

Just came on five minutes ago.

EDIT: Started at 7.01 with the Six One news.

Yep, RTÉjr stopped broadcasting around 18:20 with a static logo for about 10 minutes, then went to black screen. At 18:45 my TV began displaying the message "Data Service" on the channel. I switched over to channel 8 and the RTÉ One +1 card was on.

Just started transmitting now, skipped the Angelus and went straight into the news.

The "+1" in the logo is in the same style as the "HD" on RTE TWO.

Why do they close RTE1 +1 at 2am, wouldn't it make sense to let it run continuously from 7pm Friday evening to 9am Monday morning when RTE Jr takes over for the evenings.

Is RTE Jr a duplicate of what is being shown on RTE2 during the day anyway or whats happening, as a Kid I remember childrens programming from around 1pm to 6pm with the Den.

RTE One +1 seems to be running at a much lower bitrate than the others, I haven't seen it go over 2.4Mbit in 20 minutes and it's also most of the time at 1.0Mbit

They must be waiting for MUX 2 to go into action properly.

Rescan required. The channel settings were changed today several times. Run the digital tuning scan on your TV and all should be ok.

When RTE2 HD goes on to Mux 2 in September, will RTE One +1 and RTE Jr. have their broadcast times extended?

No, they are time shared channels approved by the Dept of Communication. Any change to that would require further consultation and approval.

Anyone know why Fair City is not being broadcast ......The screen just says :"This programme is not available on SAORVIEW"

Because we can only handle Fair City being shown once a day!!

Probably for the same reason it can't be shown on RTÉ Player - Equity.

As a matter of interest - what is MUX2 actually going to be used to provide? the saorview channel listing is complete for now is it not?

    RTÉ2 HD and RTÉjr/RTÉ One +1 initially.

The BAI has sought Expressions of Interest for the spare capacity on Mux 1 & 2 - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056195645. No update on this yet.

Two further PSB channels are planned but no money to launch them - Houses of the Oireachtas Channel and the Irish Film Channel.

    More money for ESB.

It serves no other purpose at the moment. It's DCENR politics, not a technical decision.

... or FF politics. Remember Ray Burke and the advertising cap.

Dont think so. Mux one has reached its capacity. Mux 2 will be required in order to offer all the services in HD. Unlike Freeview HD there will not be a specific HD mux.

Besides the obvious reasons why Freeview HD has a seperate mux (its platform) it wouldnt work for Irish DTT as 4 hd channels wouldnt fit on one dvb-t mux. Also the first mux frequencies are apparently the ones optimized for best coverage.

It would be great Ronan, but how would it be a commercial success in the open ? Sports services are subscription for a reason.

Yes i know they would have to generate revenue from advertising and in this climate would be hard.STB is there any info what companies if any have applied to be on mux 2?
