Slow Macbook Pro

Right so over the last couple of weeks the boot time and especially the shut down time of my macbook pro has decreased pretty dramatically.

It used to take a few seconds to shut down and now it takes about 2-3 minutes.

I don't have the harddrive partitioned, theres no startup programs, i regularly run programs such as maccleanse and cleanmymac and recently ran an antivirus program (:P) and it had no problems.

Anyone have any ideas as to why this is?

    Cheers in advance! :pac:

Slow boot might indicate hard drive failure. Are apps slow to open as well?

Forget about those other utilities; they are no use. Run Disk Utility and verify the hard disk, and repair permissions while you are there.

    Do you have a backup?

i always find running applejack helps. Or it could be hd failure, can you hear clicking from the hd?

In the desktop menu bar click Go and select "Go to Folder...".
    Type /var/log and hit Return.
Locate the file system.log and open it.
You may need to open it with Text Edit and enter your admin username and password.

In this log file you should find clues relating to slow shutdown.
Are you running Parallels, by any chance?

    hi

you can check the battery and graphic processor test

i assume machine shutting down because of your bad battery (consumed battery ).
