Hi apologies for the slow reply. I've been informed that 8 is the minimum age, but I'll confirm that for definite tomorrow.

Think I'll enter this today. First race since latest injury :) and never ran on Sandymount Strand before. Always like to support club races.

I am assuming that you have checked that the tide will be out ?

I am assuming that you have checked that the tide will be out ?

In view of the ominous silence I checked - low water 17.23 *phew* Would have made a nice shot for your gallery, a few hundred runners drowning :pac:

I used to love running along Sandymount, either the beach or the promenade, in the early mornings. Ships at anchor in the bay, Howth Head, the lights of Dun Laoghaire etc. Would have been nice to have taken part in this.

    Yes we have checked!

A waist deep 5k would be a nice test of strength though, maybe one for next year!

Getting closer now, hope you've been doing your sand based training intervals!

    Entries
Online entry will remain open until the 14th June
We will also be taking entries on the night up until 18:30 at the race start which will be on the town end of Sandymount Strand.

    Post Race Refreshments
There will be small function after the run in Clarke's Pub, Irishtown where finger food will be served. All welcome to join.

    Children's Race
The 800 metre children's race will be for ages of 8-14 and starts at 19:10. We will also be holding a much shorter 100 metre race for younger kids on the night if there is a demand, so bring the whole clan!

I wish I could do it, but I promised my daughter I'd suffer through watch her school play, not half a mile from the beach

Results are now up on the website:
    http://www.bloomsdaybeachrun.com/results.htm

Note the comment at the top:
"Due to adverse conditions on the beach the run was shorter than 5k."
5k became 4.2k due to the deluge of rain that stopped them laying out the planned course.

To be honest the sand took enough out of me that i wasn't too bothered it was short!!
