'Man drought' in Australian cities

Australian's single city women forced to look for love in the country
In the latest example of how difficult it has become for women in their late twenties and early thirties to find an eligible man in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, a dating agency has started sending busloads of single women out to country towns, where the ratio of men to women is far more favourable.
"Country men are more gentlemanly, they hold the door open for you and if they see you with an empty glass they will be the first to offer to get you a drink, they are more attentive." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/australiaandthepacific/australia/8540727/Australians-single-city-women-forced-to-look-for-love-in-the-country.html

Another incentive for some boardsies to seek their destiny in the lucky country..

I think we should have a fair trade with them, two men for every hot Aussie girl they send us.

If they ban Planking/Extreme-facedown, the situation wouldn't get any worse.

Home&Away and Neighbours has done wonders for the reputation of Australian women. Unfortunately it's not entirely founded.

After spending a fair few years in Australia, I think I'm qualified to chip in here.
Yes, the ones we get to see in the soaps, pop stars etc are fine, but the vast majority of aussie girls are like wombats with lip stick. FACT.
so much so, I met my wife out there, who just happen's to be Irish!

True what they say guys, Irish girls are pretty!

Problem with Australia is that it's full of Australians. All their social issues stem from that.

Indeed, aren't you glad feminism took off?
Can't wait till it swings the other way and women hold doors open for men and buy us drinks!

Am I the only one who can absolutely not stand the Australian accent? I couldn't ever go out with a girl from there with a thick accent.. "Maybe no one likes your accent" responses welcome!

Sorry but it's like nails on a chalk board...

What's the ratio in Ireland surely a lot more young men are leaving than women.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,370 ✭✭✭Knasher

Anybody have a theory on why Australian cities have such a drought and ideas on how we can implement something similar here?

Women have often told me "not if you were the last man on earth", but I feel confidant if I can get to a close enough approximation of that, they might change their minds.

You should should have said: "Now you're talkin to me baby, that I like".

A cunning plan for those that stay behind. We'll send over two buffers on the promise of hot womens but once they get there they'll realise all the womens came to Ireland and all that's left in Aussyland is burnt paddies.

I'd rather listen to an Aussie accent than have blood pouring out of my ears listening to a New Zealand one.

Great idea if Aussie farmers aren't as fussy or demanding of their women as Irish ones

    Good luck to the women.

Wimmins are all for equality until there is no seats left on the bus.

Or they have no drink in front of them.

Or the feckin door is closed.

So the city lads copped on to the free drinks scam. The women are forced out to the countryside where their con is less known? I think that's the general gist of it right?
