Monitors are one of those thinks that I wouldn't like to take a chance on.
Could your budget stretch to the Yamaha HS50's?

I have no experience with those models but I agree with you, Behringer has some good products out there. A few gems in my opinion. Though I would not be too pushed on monitors.

i could hold out alright a few weeks for the hs50's. i'd be better off in the long run! i've a pair of rokit g2s that i don't like at all so i might flog them.

    thanks for that!

Though the ADA8000 gets special mention. Its a very decent piece of kit.

mkegvn, the Yamahas are better. I was looking at the HS50 and 80 when I was looking for monitors. I ended up going for the KRK VXT's but the main point is the Yamaha are placed between the Rokits and VXT's.

Id go as far to say they are pretty level with the VXT's actually.

Thinking back on it they have a truthful characteristic to them that the KRK's don't have as much.

The VXT's do add a bit of bass to things. Which I don't mind because I have always believed they made things sound a little nice but they are extremely accurate and clear. I can hear things going on that you wouldnt on cheaper speakers so I guess I am used to the small amount of colouration.

The Yammies are probably as revealing but without the colouration so things may not sound great all the time but you should hear whats going on very well, and as people seem to keep saying about the Yammies, once you hit the sweet spot on a mix you will know about it. That is what I remember from testing them anyway. I admit it has been a while. I would love to have a set of the HS50's or HS80's though.

Btw, Damagetrax, I tried stuffing the VXT's with socks and I was amazed at how much the low end got cut. Very interesting and I will definitely exploit that in the future.

I have even been inspired to use the tissue trick from the NS10's on my wee Tascam speakers.
    :pac:

I have a pair of these. They are grand auld yolks for having around. If you're serious about getting crystal sound then don't even think about it but they are impressive for the price. I'm not pro so I don't require perfect sound but I've found mixing quite acceptable on them.

That's the price for one of the monitor's, it'd be 300 for two.

I'm well aware of that, thanks ste! These usually retail at about 250 each though!
