White car paint polish

I recently bought a white Peugeot 406. Im just after replacing the timing belt and crankshaft pulley and id like to sort the paint next!

Its pretty dull in places and has finger marks from oil/grease stained in to paint.
What products would you recommend to use for this and in what order?

Im not looking for a like new finish just an improvement...theres a halfords near me if that helps for linking products!

Id be much more comfortable with the mechanical side of things!

Petrol on a cloth will remove the oil stains, tar, green mouldy crap ect.. give it a try before you buy anything, dont be shy with the petrol and make sure to wash the car with warm soapy water when finished. Then when dry, give it a coat or two of wax.

Nonoperational

The general routine for a good DIY job on the paint - Clean, tar remover, clay, polish and wax. If you have a buddy that will machine polish it all the better but if you take a day at it it will make a huge difference.

Wash with a good general washing solution.

Then clay it with something like this.

It will be like new!
