I'm not going to purchase a Saorview STB until a genuine PVR becomes available. Are any being tested at the moment ?

By a full PVR I mean it must have a Dual Tuner and a Built-In Hard Disk (Not a USB option)

I paid around £100 for my second hand Humax PVR which I use for recording Freeview here in Ardee. Works nicely!

I'd pay up to €300 for a similarly 'speced' PVR for Irish DTT.

I'm with ya. I really don't want a compromised system. Make it easy for me. A nice HD box with full PVR and I'll pay up to €300 for it no problem (i'm paying more then that for Sky+ now per year!).

Any word of decent brands coming out with something? All I see is Walker boxes, call me a label head but who the hell are Walker?

why dont you just buy a freeview+hd box all works and only downside is that the irish channels start at 800

been reading a few threads about them ( Humax in particular) - might be the road to go down alright.

I'm waiting for a combo Saorview/Freesat HD box with full 7 day EPG and recording functionality - basically as much as a straight replacement for my current Sky HD box as possible.

Anything like this available now? I know there's some FTA combo boxes, but now-next EPG info only is no use to me

if you receive the uk freeview its a much cheaper option than saorview pvr and freesat pvr, im using a sagemcom 500gb pvr its very slow awaiting an update but its great have full uk and irish dtt, pause, play, rewind series link etc £90 secondhand off ebay:D

Some boxes don't handle daylight saving properly either, so the EPG will be an hour out. Bad for a PVR.

hopefully wont be a problem on mine:confused: teletext on irish dtt and all works not that i use it only downside is i cant record radio but im sure some of the higher spec pvrs support this, also support for bbc iplayer in the next software release but im sure some proxy work around would be needed in the south

No and you may be waiting a long time. There isn't even a Freeview/Freesat PVR on the market in the UK. Little chance they do one for the much smaller Irish market.

The tirax does automatically but the walker you need to manually adjust the time by +1 or -1 depending on time of year.
