All depends where in the country the job is located. In Dublin you can expect 20-25k starting. The average in Cork for example is around 16-19k and it's even less in towns etc. I started last September on 15k with all study, course and materials paid for. In the current climate, you take what you can get and be thankful. The power has switched to the employer. Also, your starting salary can be based on exemptions you may/may not have.

Its probably above average tbh for a small firm. Ive heard of people starting on 12k plus study. I doubt there is much room for negotiation on your part for any upward rise before you start.

Big 4 this year are a lot closer to 20k than 25k anyway.

Just on the grapevine now I heard of someone being offered that amount. But you do hear all sorts of stories. But for Big 4 it is closer to 20k..so what you are being offered is quite reasonable for a small firm.

Big 4 in Dublin were 21-21.5 basic last year.

More if they had a masters or good experience.

    25K days are long gone.

I started on 19k in small firm in Dublin with study leave etc so that seems about average.
I'd Cap 2 exemptions as well.
Good luck with the new job :D

If you're doing evening classes, revision classes etc. Paying your own membership and exam fees, it's not far off €800 - €1,000 per exam.
