I lost my passport last tuesday night on the way home either in town, in the club or in the taxi. I've rang every garda staion I can think off and the club (no response) and tried the passport office but they wont pick up.
I was wondering how I would go about getting a new one as i dont have any other form of photo identifaction .
Has this happened to anyone else and how did they go about getting new passport ?

    Get this
    http://www.agecard.ie/

DO NOT use your passport as ID in clubs. I know-Ive lost three passports (dont judge, dont ask, I was an eejit!). You dont wanna end up with a restricted passport if this happens again or worse an identity theft interview!

Report your lost passport to the passport office. If theyre not answering the phone, pop into them in molesworth street-theyre open til about 4pm Mon-Fri.

It might have been handed in to there. If not, they will cancel it. Go into them with your documentation (birth cert, garda stamped passport photo, passport form that you can get at your local garda station) and they will issue you a new one that'll be out to you in a couple of weeks.

To get an age card you need your Birth Cert AND photo id so you can't get an age card without an id. I know this because I only applied for one 2 months ago.

Yeah I know thats really anoying!! I was asked for photo id at the garda station(applying for passport) but expalined I didn't have any, they asked my dad for photo id so they could link it up with my birth cert. I was then asked at the post office to send away photo id but I dont have any so they just sent it away and im still waiting. Hopefully it'll come through, applying for age card as soon as I get it!!!

    OP,

Did you contact the Carraige Office in case you lost it in a taxi?

You just apply for a new one like you would if the old one had expired - there's a section on the form to explain how it was lost and iirc a Garda has to sign that section as well as signing the back of your photo. Take the whole lot to the post office and submit it via Passport Express - going into the passport office now costs an additional 15 euro whereas passport express is only an additional 8.50, and passport express is much quicker.

Yeah I freaked out and called every garda station I could incase I lost it in the taxi. They run the carriage office now but I would safely say it was stolen because my bank card was in it. ( cancelled bank card straight away). I've applied for a new passport via passport express but apparently you need another form of photo id, even though the garda signed the forms by linking my dads id to my birth cert. I would imagine if there was any problems with me not having photo id they would have sent it back by now as i sent it away 9 days ago. I've been warned passport express is taking longer then usual so I'm just hoping there was no problems.

There's probably a Mossad agent somewhere running around with your passport now :)
Jokes aside, just apply for the new one and also apply for age card so you won't lose it again.

If it does come back there's a separate declaration form you can get signed by a garda that says you have no other photo ID but they're happy you are who you say you are. They will also accept student IDs etc. Hope the new one arrives soon.

Simple as that. No more about it.
