    Hello experts!

I recently acquired a 360 that won't turn on. It's not a power supply issue cos i've tried another that definitely works and no joy.

What is the most likely cause of this happening? and is there an easy fix?

The guy who owned it said it just went off when he was playing it and it wouldn't turn on again.

I might get it fixed if it's gonna be non expensive, otherwise i'll consign it to the scrapheap for spare parts. It was free anyway so i'm not too fussed either way.

    Cheers!

Faulty wireless board not setting a proper power on/off. Wrecked nand/gpu/cpu etc etc.

There are loads of possible causes, unless it was something blatantly obvious and simple (e.g the wifi board) I wouldn't spend time fixing it myself.

A piece of metal inside the case could be shorting it out, had this experience recently after repairing a customer's Xbox 360 I accidently left some aluminium tape on the underside of the motherboard, this caused the Xbox to turn on itself and eject at random, sometimes not even power on at all the tape was conductive so it was making a connection and making it go crazy!

Cheers, whatever it was, it wasn't permanent anyway, I gave it a thorough cleaning inside and it's powering on fine now. Just getting the Open tray message when i try to load any sort of disc instead... grrr
