New or refurb i7 iMac?

    Hi all.

In the market now for a new machine and wanted a little guidance.

My main question is whether I should consider buying the 27" iMac (2.93, i7) which has been on the refurb store @ €1,499 since the new model came out or go for the new one with the faster processor and bump up the graphics card also. I'd probably be interested in the SSD also and would likely swap that out in the 2010 model myself but it is still unknown how that will be handled in the new version (I'd be more inclined to order with a SSD and wait the few weeks).
This will all cost $$$s though (can get an edu discount off new stuff) and I'm leaning towards getting the 'old' iMac and then getting a mini server when they get refreshed with thunderbolt etc., all for a similar enough spend.

I don't change machines regularly (/rubs his 17" powerbook G4) and prefer to have them relatively beefy when I buy. I have a HD camcorder and want to sort out some of that video... also need to fully digitise my photo collection. If I had the mini I would likely use it for movies (plex?) also and I can see the value of having a home server (kids starting to use computers more now too)...
Work/College wise I will be using Adobe CS and doing programming (web/java etc), using a combination of mac & windows currently. Nothing overly taxing but I still have apprehension about not buying the current machine. Then again 2 > 1...
    Daddy or chips?
