How do you sell a car for parts?

Hi - I've a car that's got a cracked head gasket (I think) - overheats on long journeys. My conscience won't permit me to sell it to anyone as a working car, even though it's grand around town, etc.
Do any of those car part places buy cars for parts?

Are you sure its not the Thermostat? Easy fix if it is.

Mechanic said he replaced the thermostat housing after a bad overheating incident over christmas. It might have been something to do with that. I'd be willing to let him try a and replace a thermostat if thats what youre suggesting, if it meant I could sell it as a working car afterwards.
A second opinion said he reckoned the head had cracked (without really looking mind you) when it had overheated that time.

I think this would be a lot better suited in the motors section.

@Mods, please feel free to move back to Limerick City if you don't think it's suitable here.

same as above just state all the details of car
and at bottom of ad put engine overheats
maybe more suitable for parts or a fixer upper
buy and sell have a section you could pop in
    there damaged and repairables!

OP, take off your Oil cap and check for white stuff under it...if there is your headgasket is gone. I'd say your thermostat is just gone though.

Thermostats really rarely fail closed to overheat an engine. Is the car losing much/any coolant? Do the fans come on as the temp goes over 90degs on the temp gauge?
