Cheap motor required

    Hi all,

Will be returning home to study for four years in august/sept and I need a cheap motor (inc tax/insurance) to keep me going for the duration of study.

I previously had a Mazda 323f (hairdresser's car, I know) and thought it was very reliable and on the cheap side. I have a preference for Japanese models, not too sure if I require petrol/diesel and have a budget of €2000.

I'm 25 with 7 years named driving experience on a full licence. I would appreciate any advice from the more experienced motorists out there.

A fiesta 1.25 would be a could choice. Cheap, reliable, it seems to fit the bill. Looks aren't great, but still!

The mk5 1.25 zetecs are great little cars. Plenty of them for around 1k.

Recently had a 1 litre 98 suzuki swift as a loan car from my mechanic while he was working on my own. Now it is as ugly as sin but it's a great car to drive ! Couldn't believe the go in it - also seemed very economical, and everything worked in it. Don't know your budget but would consider this if it's tight.

Edit: Just saw your budget - well within it!

    Thanks for quick responses.

I will look into the swift idea. Any word on the mazda? Advice or otherwise?

As mentioned, looks are definately not important and somehting that runs on a shoestring is the order of the day.
