I really hope someone can help me out with this as Im absoloutly going nuts trying to figure this out.
Ive been trying to connect my Acer laptop to my Samsung Lcd tv for the past couple of weeks, but to no results :(. Whats happening is when I connect the cable, (which I think is called a VGA...the 15 pin plugs..sorry lads not very up with the techy names), I get the desktop up on the tv screen no problem, but what happens next is whats p*ssing me off. Every 5 seconds or so a flicker comes across the screen which is ok for a little bit but after a couple of minutes it just drives you mad...(trust me ive tried watching a movie and came out with a bad headache). I have tried changing the resolution and all the "control panel" stuff" which didnt help, so here I am hoping someone might have another idea for me to try.
    Thanks in advance.....:)

I actually have the same on an old acer laptop i had, I assumed the small fella ruined the vga connector by fiddling with it. If you find a solution, by all means let me know! Sometimes it works ok for a bit, but 99% of the time, it flicks.

Set resolution to 720x576,or 1024x768 ,set graphics card refresh rate to 60mhz.
Most pcs are set at 75mhz ,which is not good for hdtv s.
there should be a sticky post ,how to connect pc to a hdtv .

Most tvs have only 3 resolution settings which look ok, thru vga mode.
Your pc resolution is probably too high, see tv manual, pc input settings.
See display propertys ,advanced settings, click 60mhz, ok.

you can damage the tv if you go over 60mhz refresh rate,my hdtv manual, says
60mhz max for pc vga or hdmi in.
    dvd resolution =720x576 pixels.

sorry lads only getting back to reply now.......Discovered what the problem was in the end. It was actully the vga cable itself. And whats funny is that the one thats faulty was a really expensive one I bought a couple years back. I swopped it for a cheap one I got in work and its happy days since. The problem I have now is too many late nights watching movies......:( But its worth it, as I had a lot of catching up to do (over three years of missed movies......kids). I got a hard drive as a present a couple of weeks ago with over 2000 movies loaded on for me, which is why I wanted to connect up.......:D
    Thanks for the replys
