    Hi
how to remove coil packs. 2006 Octavia 1.4 BCA engine code. With air filter removed, I can see the coils but they are "surrounded" by a flimsy wiring tray, which is held down by 2 torx bolts. Is each coil bolted down UNDER the tray. I can't remove the wiring blocks from the coils with the tray in sitiu. I can't wiggle the coils loose and the tray prevents me levering them, if they're not bolted down underneath. Any help please
    regards

theres small clips holding the wires of the coils to the tray, undo the clips, they just snap open by hand. then carefully lever the offending coil out and then unplug the wire.

Huge thanks for reply....Yes, I know the clips you refer to. Please confirm that I leave the tray in place and simply(simply, indeed ??) pull coils straight up until connectors are clear of tray. Then just pull apart ? No secret little clips joining coil to connector ??

    Again, I'm indebted to ye

Any special hints to levering against plastic tray...2 flat small screw drivers ??

yes you can leave the tray there just unbolt the coil and lever it out.
i think a wide lever is better than small screwdrivers, it spreads the load evenly.
use a big flat screwdriver or a flat chisel and wedge it up. you'll only need to pry it up a little and it will come loose.

Sorry to be a nuisance, but..."unbolt the coil" . I have seen coils removed from other cars (diff Mfg)and I know the bolt you mean. On Octavia, I didn't see any bolt, no room for a bolt unless it's under the tray. I have looked at photos on line and some of "pencil coil" packs don't have a bolt. Sorry again, but I would not like to be levering against a bolt. I'm thinking the bolt might win.
If you can confirm for sure one way or other, that would be great.

    Tnx again

if theres a bolt on a coil it wont be hidden if you cant see one there is none,
just pry it up, you wont break it. once it pops up you'll wonder what you were worried about.

A couple of decades ago I changes Cyl head gaskets on old mini, fiat 127, and lite-ace van. All push rod engines, no overhead cams. You see what happens when your confidence gets a bit of a kicking
really appreciate your help and patience
