Whatever Happened To Alan Curbishley?

Did a great job at Charlton. My last memories of him being there were clown fans saying he should go as he has taken the club as far as he can :pac:

Then to West Ham and managed them for one the the greatest relegation escapes ever seen in English football. He then left for political reasons in the club and was immediately linked to all sorts of decent jobs. Throughout his time at Charlton he was always being linked to decent jobs although nothing ever happened and nothing has happened since he left West Ham. This was nearly 3 years ago. I think most people can agree he is a decent manager. His managerial stock has never really diminished but he appears to either be not interested in managing again or has fallen off the face of the planet. He's been rarely seen since he left West Ham, he doesnt even do much TV work. Whats the story with him, has he retired?

He seems to be forever linked with jobs but never seriously considered by the clubs.

Recently he's been complaining about how English managers get a raw deal with regards to getting top flight jobs, so it seems to be a bit of a sob story with him these days.

Personally I think there's no Premier League team willing to take a chance on him for whatever reason and he thinks he's beyond joining a Championship team (perhaps it's due to his demands as he does some TV work and gets handsomely paid for it too). He's also a cockney through and through and perhaps due to family etc he won't work away from the area?

If he was willing to take a job in the Championship from a club based anywhere in the country I'd suggest he'd have be managing again long before now.

No Premier League club is willing to take the chance on someone who has been out of the game for so long.

    Kenny Daglish?

    Kenny Daglish?

But he was connected with Liverpool so it was not that much of a risk. He knew clearly what needed to be changed and had a good knowledge of the academy.

Managers dont work when suing their previous clubs, he only reached a settlement with WH in the last few months.

He couldn't work for almost two years while his dispute with West Ham was being resolved. They found in his favour if anyone is interested. Was a figure which divided support at West Ham but few could argue with his record. He took us over at Chirstmas with the club in a shambles and bottom of the league. He finished 15th. Next season he finished 10th. Season after we were 5th in the league when he left due to the board. He's bein heavily linked with a return to the club at the moment and I for one would love to have him back. Excellent manager.

I'd love him back too, you know exactly what you will get mid table but prefer that to relegation
