Buying up Future Classics 14 years ago

Was cleaning up today and came across a 14 year old buyandsell news paper.

Its strange to see all the cars for sale, that were, at the time, in the low end of the market, but many are now sought after or appriciating classics, Mk2 Escorts, MK1 golfs, Minis etc. They seem cheap now, and one would think buying up all those at the time would be a good investment, although its all relative I suppose

The images may be a bit small to read, (well they are on my small screen) but they are here if you want to zoom in for a look.

    Enjoy!

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

I love old stuff with prices from yesteryear :)

Saturday the 18th of January, 1997...

But look at most of the ads, second hand cars nowadays are much cheaper and you get a lot more car for your money too. And as the carchaeologist said, those were the pre-NCT days. With plenty of cars driving around with holes in the wings, total deathtraps with probably even bigger holes in the floors :)

10-25 are perilous years for a car!

Very true, some are lucky and make it through unscathed, many end up cube shaped and others have to rely on true enthausists to save them and keep them. I have a few 80's cars in storage myself, all ones that I saved from the crusher and that I aquired for free :)

oh all those old isuzu troopers.....

lots of granadas too which i also love. One of the sillyest things i recall doing was buying cheap rwd toyota starlets while crappy ones were still fairly easily available and using them in the forestry.... and on a friend's farm where we had our own little rally events....

(well it wasnt silly at the time as they were wrecked, rusty and far cheap than they are now but i'd make a a fair bit of i had kept them or stripped them for parts)
