Tyre trouble

    Hey,

There has been a shake in my steering wheel this last couple of months or so when I hit 70km/hr+.

Also the car is pulling to the left. I noticed that the outside of the left wheel is worn badly.

So when I got it serviced they swapped it with the back left and he says he balanced it but it's still the same. There doesn't seem to be a buckle on the outer rim of any of the tyres.

    What should I do? Cheers

Fecked bearing maybe? Or worn track rod end?

Did he balance the back wheel before he fitted it to the front? Is the other front wheel balanced?

Maybe have the wheels tracking done (after ensuring the two front wheels are balanced)?

i agree with Esel, i think wheel alignment is required. if the problem persists after that then you need to get a mechanic to check it out

I had the same problem,so last week i got 4 new tyres and it was grand, the ones i had on it were very cheap so i spent a few pound and got Goodyear Eagle F1's,no problem anymore.

    Cheers lads.

Mechanic seemed to think everything else was ok bearings etc

Tyres are grand apart from the one that got worn on the outside. Think I'll get them tracked and balanced and see how it is then. How much should that cost in a tyre centre?!

4 wheel alignment can cost from €50ish to €65 in my experience. what part of the country are you in? i go to united tyres in donnybrook in dublin and would recommend them

could it be warped brake disc or pad?

Yeah I had that problem once, and two new front tyres fixed it.

OP, how old are the tyres / how much mileage have you done on them?
Have you have many puncture repairs on them?
They may have reasonable thread depth on them, but not much structural integrity in the sidewalls to keep the tyre from wobbling at speed.

Only around 5k miles on them. Got a qoute of 7euro per tyre to balance them and 40 euro to track them, seems reasonable enough. That's from agri gear, tyre specialists up this neck of the woods.
