Sorry if this is in the wrong place mods, I couldnt see anyplace more suitable!
I have a bass amp thats in need of repair, can anybody recommend me a tech?
I have a Warwick x-treme 10.1 bass amp that has power going to it, but no sound coming out. I was using this at a gig on Saturday and the amp blew a fuse during soundcheck, we replaced the fuse, powered on again but no sound was now being sent to the cab.
Its not the bass, the cab, or the speakon cable. All those have been tested and are working fine.
The amp is recieving a signal, when we crank the gain and slap the pickups on the bass, the red LED for clipping will light up on the amp.

So if you know somebody or someplace that can fix this, please let me know! :pac:

Have you checked the transistors ? . This sounds similar to a problem i had with an ampeg . (or lack of it)

Take a look in the head , as you are looking in you should be able to see 4 or 5 transistors stacked in a line (hard to miss) on an ampeg they are on the bottom right behind the pots . Depending on the make of the head they may be different colours . In ampegs they are black so i would imagine it is fairly standard accross the board .

If anyone of these got fried that would explain the problem . Take a look for any sign of burning or blackness around them, this should help narrow down the list of possibilities .

If it is the transistors get on to the manufacturer or distributor and they will be able to get you replacements and save you a fortune . Most places will try and sell you an entire new board , And for what its worth try Gallien Krueger , never an issue .

Hey, thanks for the advice Bayles! I'm not sure if its a good idea for me to be opening this up myself, I dont know anything about electronics. But if this is the same problem/solution that you had then it cant be so expensive right? Is it just a simple matter then of pulling out the old one and sticking in the new one?

    No problem

It kinda is just a case of replacing old with new but beware this is a soldering job not just a "plug out old, plug in new" . What im suggesting is more that it wont cost you anything if you take a look and try to diagnose the problem yourself . It really isint much to take the lid off and have a peep inside .
If it is a transistor (and it shouldnt take you long to figure it out as you should see it , it might be melted) then you can buy a new one for a couple of euro and give the amp and transistor to a guy who might repair it for anywhere between €50 to €100 euro .
If you let somebody else diagnose and repair they may charge you a stack more .
Of course all of this is only relavent if it is the transistor ,
