    Hi people.

A friend of mine is doing a photography course from home and one of her assignments is to develop her own pictures from B&W film.

As a favour to her I said I would ask on here what chemicals/materials she would need and if anyone could advise on where to source them in either Derry, Letterkenny or Sligo it would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks

As far as chemicals go she'll need developer, stop (have been told if you really need to you can use water or water/vinegar) and a fix. I've only ever used Ilford brand so far so can't advise beyond that.

    A developing tank like http://www.jessops.com/online.store/products/15457/show.html
will also be needed, pretty sure she can find cheaper ones then that.

she'll need a thermometer to check the temp of the developer mix, a watch, a bottle opener and a pair of scissors. somewhere to dry her negs without dust getting in the way.

I have to say OP I'm surprised your friend has no idea what to search for considering she's doing a course, even if she's doing it from home, surely they provided her with information?

They probably did, but I wanted to make sure I got all the details without missing anything.

The main issue is where to get the chemicals locally if at all possible

I'm not sure where I only know of places in Galway.

Gunns in dublin will post them to her. Not sure she'll get them locally tbh. If she doesn't have anywhere *completely* dark to open the cannsiter and load the reel she'll need a darkbag too.
