As the title says! I usually get waxed in a beauticans but can't afford to this time round, and I'm off to see the bf this weekend so would like to do a home attempt! I usually get a brazilian, but will probably just want to know what kind of creams, waxing kits do they have that would kinda match it?

I'm not shaving down there! NO WAY! Learned my lesson last time! :o

I'd really consider practising shaving. Honestly. Just allow shed loads of time, a bath and a mirror the first time round :D

Afaik veet and most depilatory creams cant be used on the delicate area, only the bikini line. And even at that I find they irritate parts of my skin.
I get a brazilian as much as possible but when I cant afford it, its meticulous shaving that leaves just as smooth as a result once youve the patience. Ive got it down to less than ten minutes now too :D

Waxing kit of your own would be ideal but for a brazilian youd want to be confident in what your doing, Id suggest using creams for a while but invest in a kit, and decent mirror it is akward and messy but eventually when you get the hang of it you'll be a pro.

I have shaved it before and it was grand but it was the growing back that was so painful and the fact when we had nookie it wasn't comfortable cos everytime it went against the grain of natural hair growth it hurt like hell!!!

It would only really be this time. I got clamped on Monday so had to fork out €80 which was to fund my beauticians apt this week!

    !

If you moisturise really well in the shower with conditioner it prevents the painful regrowth :)

Would you consider going to a different beautician for the waxing? Some places can be quite cheap, might be worth considering.

There was a deal yesterday for Heaven to get it done for 24 euro (http://livingsocial.com/deals/38571-extended-bikini-or-brazilian-wax?msdc_id=68) but depending on the branch/day/student discount/offers you can get some treatments half-price.

There are probably loads of other places that are equally cheap.

I would be wary of places that offer brazilian and hollywood waxing on the cheap. It's a very specialised type of waxing and a lot can go wrong if it is not done correctly and by a properly trained professional. I would not want my bits in the hands of some cheapo beautician who doesn't know what she's doing ....

OP, personally I would not shave down there nor use those creams like Veet, etc. Those creams are not good for hair growth and shaving is not very comfortable. Perhaps just trim yourself for the time being til you can go next month?

Im with Tinkerbell on this one. There is no way I would let veet anywhere NEAR me down there. Christ! Thinking about it makes me want to cross my legs.

I hate shaving there too, waxing is definately the way to go. If you can't get it done this time, Just trim. Theres no point in making a mess of it and having painful sex or getting burned with those creams (yes! it happened to a girl i know!!)

Veet etc is fine if you just want to tidy up - if you want a more intimite hair removal experience you need to wax though.

"Nads" is a fantastic product and not as messy as creams or home waxing. It seems to be in a quite a few pharmacists and is very easy to use (with good results!). You could also consider sugaring, which is essentially the same concept as "Nads" but can be made at home.

I normally go to a beauty salon that does it for €35. They were offering a special deal though, €50 for 3 treatments including a lycon brazilian wax which is worth €45 on it's own but unfort I can't afford it :(:(:(

I might see if Boots has Nads, might just use it on my bikini line and then just trim down there. Are any of the trimmers any use? You know those ones by Gilette or something???

I have a One4All voucher that I want to use in Boots or Hickeys chemist. I did look into using it in other salons in Dublin but they are all priced at €50+ for a Brazilian alone. So wouldn't be worth it.

Use an epilator. It's basically the same thing as waxing, just takes maybe a few seconds longer. You don't get any stubble either :)

epilator is so sore on the intimate parts - tbh I wouldn't recommend it

I'd just trim and wait till next month.

If you've been waxing for awhile you'll ruin the regrowth by shaving or using any hair removal creams and it will make your next wax more painful.

Id would say stay away from an epilator unless you just dont feel pain. Its basically tweezing mulitiple hairs at once and on a sensitive area it would be agony.

Shaving in that area too will just lead to uncomfortably regrowth and will only last a couple of days.

I wouldnt recommend home waxing for a brazillian if you dont have experience as it could end in a painful disaster. Keep an eye on facebook and city deals etc for salons in your area. Theres always offers on. Or you could get a basic bikini for €10 in smaller salons to keep you going until you can afford a brazzilian again.

Well I decided to get Veet Bikini Cream (€8.99 in Boots but used my €20 voucher), just used it on my bikini line and made it look like a strip. Then just trimmed the underneath with a scissors very carefully! LOL!

The finished effect is not too bad thankfully. Didn't get stung either! :o

Have booked myself in for a Brazilian in 2 weeks anyways. €40 for it plus a pedicure which isn't too bad.

Oh god, this made me clench  I did my underarms last week and it was excruciating, there's no way I'd venture to more sensitive areas with it! Fair play to you if you have the pain threshold for it :p

When people talk about shaving here do they mean all over shaving or just the bikini line!? I've shaved the line before, would love a Hollywood but can't afford it :(

When I can't get waxed I use my trusty epilator it does the job and the hair is usually gone for about two weeks.

I guess I should have mentioned that before I started using an epilator I had been waxing for years so I don't take any notice of the pain lol! I still get waxed though on my legs and.......ahem......sensitive area:)
