    Hi

I've just moved into a new house. Am a sky digital customer but the new house is set up to receive UPC so just wondered is it possible to receive any cable channels via that without actually subscribing to them?

    TIA

If there is a live feed coming into the house just get some coax plug it into the back of the tv and also into the box on the wall and you should get the basic 17 channels (I think it is) if you cant get them then chances are that it may have been cut off.

If it comes down a cable then you pay for the contents anything else is theft.

Not strictly true. If you take electricity from the network without paying for it you are stealing energy at the expense of the provider who suffers a loss proportional to your consumption.

If UPC or any other cable provider have left the OP's premises with a live connection, they are not actually losing anything tangible by him taking the signal and using it to watch TV. It's up to them to exercise their right to disconnect the signal if he's not paying for it. You cannot 'steal' a TV signal.

Would that fly if it was in court though?

Doing this is theft of service and is illegal.

Also talking about this is against the rules of this forum.

    Locking this thread.
