asking a girl out by email

    Hi guys,
First post here, so be gentle with me.
    Back ground:
24 y.o guy from a small town/large village in rural Ireland. Family and friends are all decent respectable people, I was always outgoing and I would consider myself easy to get along with. I went to college in dublin for 4 years and got a good degree and I have a very good job that has very good potential, I bought a new car when my friends were losing their jobs, I have a farm of land and a house, I farm part-time but I am still living at home with parents.(not trying to brag here, I’m also conscience that none of the above really matters)
All in all I am a lad’s lad!! love going out at the weekends, always joking and slagging friends off for the crack. I will be the last one to leave the party and will start singing rebel songs at the drop of a pin.
When I’m out all said I am very shy around opposite sex, almost afraid to talk to the girls in a nightclub, it’s as if I clog up. If I do get to say hi to a girl she is usually moved on before I get the next sentence out, I just never know what to say. I only had one girlfriend and that lasted for 5mts and only because she made the first move.
I don’t consider myself the be the best looking guy in town by any means, I am carrying a few extra pounds however I still manage to get nice clothes and pride myself on trying to look my best.
    The problem:
There’s this really nice girl from my town. I know her since she started secondary school. She was a year behind me. We would never have been real close friends but would have always speak to each other etc.
Now she works in the bar that I drink in and has done for the past 4 years or so on and off. We always have a great laugh when she is there and she always speaks to me (she speaks to ever one else in the same manner though).
She is a quite girl, great looking, has really good manners, is good fun out and comes from a good family background. She is exactly the sort of girl I’m looking for and as far as I know she is single.
The only contact I have for her is an email address she has put up on her face book, I would never dream of actually asking her out via face book but I am considering sending her an email. Even though I see her most Saturday night in the pub when she is working I wouldn’t feel comfortable asking her out there. Also the fact that she works most sat nights gives me very little chance to meet her out.

Would this be a good idea or would she find it strange that I was asking her out by email??

    Any words of advice welcome.
    Thanks

Either ask her out in person or ask for her phone number. You can't ask her out by email, she'll think it's weird.

Ask her out to her face OP, not by email.

Yeah I'd have to agree with the other replies OP, to her face would be much better!
If you talk to her regularly and have known her the last 10 years or so there is no excuse for doing it by email, even if it seems easier. I always just tell myself to cop on a grow a pair when there is something like this I'm hesitant about doing. Believe me there is a much higher chance she'll go on a date with you if you ask her face to face!

Best of luck OP, let us know how it goes :)

I have to agree with the other posters.... ask her out to her face! Using email to do it is the cowards way out and she will appreciate a lot more in person.

    good luck

Do it face to face,it'll improve your confidence andshe'll have a lot more respect for you if you do it that way and if she turns you down, chin up and find yourself another girl.best of luck with it.

I believe the scenario should be..........:) (on your face) Can I call you? Believe it or not the rest should happen quite naturally, the next line is hers and if she is as nice as you say there is nothing to fear, honestly;)

Ask her out face-to-face or don't ask her out at all.

    Good luck.:)
