Springer Spaniel

    Hi all,
With a very heavy heart we have to rehome one of our Springer Spaniels. Some of you might recall a post I put up in Feburary about our two girls fighting. We decided to try some new tactics and give it a chance with the two of them but they just do not get on simple as that. Now the time has come to make the right choice and rehome one of them.
If anyone would like to give our pet a new home please contact me. She is 2 years old, nutured and has all her vaccinations/frontline/wormer up to date. She needs a home with no female dogs. She is fine with kids, we have a 1.5 yr old son and she loves him. She needs someone who will love her as much as we do and someone who will give her the exercise Springer Spaniels need. She needs a secure garden as she likes to explore and she sleeps indoors although I do understand this may not suit everyone.
Feel free to ask any questions.
    Thanks

Do you post on It's a spring thing? You might get some good tips for rehoming a springer there.

OP what are the issues exactly between the two dogs? How is she with other females other than your other dog?

Never mind, I looked up the old thread:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=70575682

Have you had a behaviourist involved since at all? How much contact and socialisation has she had with other female dogs?

    Hi, thanks for that.
She is fine with other dogs, in fact when we're out she is quite submissive towards any other dog we meet. She will always run up to them and go straight down on the ground. But in saying that I wouldnt think she should live with another dog again unless its male. She really doesnt have any other contact with other females other than who ever we meet out walking. Its with our other dog she seems to have the problems. It is really causing problems here and I find we are starting to leave the dogs outside longer, petting them less and having generally less pet-owner contact than I think is fair. This is why it is fairer on them both to seperate them (other than the obvious fact of the fighting and the problems that could lead to).

Ok, I was just asking as I'm in the early stages of looking for a second dog, I already have a bitch but she loves everybody and is very well socialised. I'm sure you know your dog best though!

    Any photos or her?

Apart from the issues with the other bitch, what's she like? How well trained is she, does she walk well on and off a lead, how's her recall in large open spaces, and does she do any retrieving?

    Hi
adrenalinjunkie I do reckon she'd be better off either in a one dog home or with a male.

pH she is a family pet, no other issues. She is still young so is energetic but quite happy. She has basic obedience training like sit, stay, drop, come, etc. She's not bad on the lead but does pull a bit sometimes although its hard to say as we walk them together on a double lead. She is fine in open spaces, will stay with us but sometimes is slow to recall but again she's young and her nose gets the better of her. We do some ball throwing but thats about as far as the retrieving goes.

I am struggling to post a pic, can anyone help? How can I put it directly in the message?

We're still looking for a home for her if anyone is interested.
Just in case I've given the wrong impression here, she is not an agressive dog. She is a very friendly family pet but unfortunately we cant keep two bitches together.

Hi guys, I'm delighted to report we found a lovely home for our Springer. She is now living with a lovely couple who had to put their old Springer to sleep not long ago due to old age illness. The woman doesnt work and she was desperately missing the company her other dog gave her while her husband is at work. This is the best situation we could have hoped for, experienced Springer owners who have the time to give to her. She sleeps indoors and has company all day.
I miss her and I was bawling when leaving her but I know it is for the best. Immediately we saw the difference at home with the time and attention we can now give our other dog.
    Thanks everyone who offered advice.
