Hi all. I'm new here! I'm looking to rescue a Golden Retriever from a shelter or similar. I check most of them daily on Facebook but no joy so far.

If anyone hears of a Golden Retriever that needs a loving new home, please get in touch.

    Thank you!

There is actually a retriever specific rescue, a lady called Sandie Bissett in Dublin runs it - http://www.irishretrieverrescue.com/index.html they mainly send the dogs over to the UK for rehoming, but if you contact them, they may have a suitable dog.

Or contact the breed club through the IKC, they may have their own welfare system in place.

I contacted Irish Retriever Rescue but they are not re-homing any Irish dogs here at present. They're all going to the UK.

I also contacted the breed club but they don't have any dogs for re-homing at present.

    Thanks for the replies!

OP, are you going to the dogexpo this weekend in Galway? There are going to be a few rescue groups there, might be worth having a chat with them.

This is a handy wee site for looking at rescue dogs by breed and region http://www.irishanimals.ie/homes.html There are a few golden retrievers and retriever x's under labradors.

I wonder if you got in touch with the irish guide dogs association they may have a few older pups that didn't make the grade, think they use mostly golden retrievers and their x's.

Another site here that a lot of rescues and pound dogs are listed on http://www.petsireland.invisionzone.com/

Ah that's a pity, if he was neutered would this not help?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68 ✭✭Helen1976

Seemingly not because he was neutered a few months ago.

Limerick Animal Welfare have a male Golden Retriever for rehoming. A young dog who was wandering as a stray. Will be neutered before rehoming and you need to have a fully secure garden. ;)

    Just to update...

We are adopting a 16 week old Golden Retriever puppy on Friday...he's a beauty, being re-homed through no fault of his own.

I got lots of helpful advice on here and I'm very thankful.

And special thanks to Suziwalsh :)

juneg as this is a 3 year old thread and the OP is sorted, it's best to start a new thread on your request.
