    Hi everyone,

im opening up an online business that specialises in wedding products. i have gotten the mod's permission to write this as long as I dont mention the business. Im not married so im asking where do most brides/grooms research their weddings. If you would let me know what you have found the most helpful I'd be very grateful.

if its magazines or websites - which ones? or is it wedding fairs, word of mouth, wedding forums etc etc..

    thanks guys

On experience of my own wedding and working as a wedding photographer I find a high percentage of brides use leading wedding websites such as weddingsonline (mods if I cant name remove please). Also references from friends may lead them to one supplier who gives references for other suppliers or some couples just go and find their hotel and get all the suppliers from the hotels references. I actually have not heard of many brides finding their suppliers through magazines tbh.

    I use www.weddingsonline.ie
    and www.mrs2be.ie
    also like www.weddingface.net

    Hope this helps,

In addition I have to say most of my research is from these wedding forums...all the girls in there really help eachother out, lots of recommendations lots of horror stories and advice.... the supplier sections are quite good too

I found a lot of my suppliers/services at the wedding fair at the hotel where we had our reception.

Online forums seem to be the best for wedding information I find. There was a a survey produced recently if thats any use to your business plan. You can sign up to get a full detailed report too when its available.

Also wedding fairs are good to meet the people on the ground and find out new trends etc.

    Hi,

From the experience of my own wedding, I'm using the all of the sites mentioned above.

I'm also buying all my bits and pieces online (unity candles, invites ect..)
I have also spoken to everyone I know and people they know trying to find recommendations for suppliers, particulary for the band. On the forum, I had poor feedback on my venue by doing this (after we booked) so I was able to raise the issue with them.

I met one of my suppliers through a wedding fair - it was a product that I hadn't thought of previously.

I used magazines for dress shops only and flower ideas.

    Thanks,
    CK
