probably been asked loads of times , but what the heck

im currently looking to set up a website to sell discounted items and rare items that are new but a few years old that some people just love and can't get anymore.

im using Adobe CS4 Indesign to create my website ( im a novice )

do i just need to get a domain name ie www.discountitems.ie and then a host to upload it to ????

which is the cheapest site to register a domain and also host ??

it will be a simple site with pictures and description of item and cost and a buy it now button via paypal etc

    all advice appreciated

You're probably reaching too far trying to design from scratch. There are many applications out there that will be a better starting place.

Register your domain. Check out the various providers, you don't have to have an Irish host for a .ie domain. Most domain hosts should include a package of ecommerce apps that can have you up and running very quickly and which you can brand with your own company.

Straightforward enough site from the sounds of it. Server-side stuff like PHP / MySQL wouldn't be essential for it (although it would make it handy / easier to update with new products - and remove sold ones, since they're rare - as well as keep prices updated, etc)

So you'd get away with HTML

The only thing is whether "Buy Now" is sufficient......what's the likelihood of someone wanting to buy 2 or more items ? Would a shopping cart be better ?
