Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone knows what the rates will be for 2011/2012? I am expecting to qualify for the Non-Adjacent Rate Standard Grant + Special Rate Grant = Total Grant €6,355 but I am sure the rates have changed with the budget and all .

    Thanks in advance!

    Hey brembo26,

I contacted someone in the grant and I was told they are still working out the system and no official information will be released until they complete the system. You will more then likely find out around the time the applications are released later this month.

Citizens Information website has some information but most of it is dated 2010-2011.

    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/education/third_level_education/fees_and_supports_for_third_level_education/maintenance_grant_schemes_for_students_on_third_level_courses.html

You will just have to wait like the rest of us.

    Hi,

I hope someone will see this, I couldn't find how to post a new thread , so here it goes.

I've filling filling in all the relevant forms and so on for the maintenance grant '11/'12 and after adding everything up I discovered the my parents' income for '10 was €240 over the special rate grant of around €6,000 which means I will get the normal €3,000ish which is great but obviously the special one would go a lot further! I contacted citizens info and explained the situation but the woman had little to offer.

Does anyone know how I could be entitled to the special rate as I am only like €200 over the cut-off rate. I'm studying teaching in the UK if that makes any odds. Any advice is welcomed.

I have a funny feeling is going to be a case of "if your over, your over..." I cant really see them making any exceptions... But hey, give it a go anyway sure and see what happens :)
